Großekämper joining Maritim Equity as a shareholder

4.7.2007 | Hamburg

Dr. Werner Großekämper has been named as managing director of the new Hamburg-based fund initiator Maritim Equity established by the Salomon & Partner Group. In this capacity, he will be overseeing the establishment of a new series of funds for private investors as of July 9.

Großekämper comes from the fund issuing company Norddeutsche Vermögensanlage GmbH & Co. KG, where he held the position of managing director for eleven years and was involved in designing and selling closed-end investment products for a total of 26 years. Born in 1952 in Westphalia and a graduate in economics, he started his career as a research assistant at the Faculty of Marketing at Dortmund University, where he also completed his doctorate. “We have in Dr. Werner Großekämper an executive with an excellent network of contacts as well as many years of experience in the complex segment of ship fund investments,” says Frank Moysich, managing shareholder of Salomon & Partner.

The Maritim Equity funds will be offering financially strong shipping companies new alternatives in the form of mezzanine capital. The aim is to spread the direct investments in ship acquisitions across around 30 assets held by different partners. A preliminary fund entailing an equity volume of EUR 100 million is already being prepared and will be presented on September 6, 2007.  “The market needs alternatives to conventional sources of finance such as banks and conventional closed-end ship funds,” says Großekämper.

In addition to developing Maritim Equity, Großekämper will also be a shareholder and member of the management board of Ship Invest AG, a joint venture between the Salomon & Partner Group and the Hermann Wulff shipping company. The ship funds initiator is currently preparing a fund comprising a modern 2700 TEU container ship.
